About

Hi, I'm Bill Doerrfeld, an independent tech journalist. I have been covering enterprise IT topics for over a decade. Through my work, I seek to advance conversations around fast-moving and state-of-the-art technologies.

I am the Editor in Chief for Nordic APIs, a knowledge center for API practitioners. I have also written for CIO.com, LeadDev, DevOps.com, Cloud Native Now (formerly Container Journal), Acceleration Economy, Security Boulevard, Tech Beacon, and other publications.

My first beat was the API economy, cataloging APIs at the now-defunct ProgrammableWeb. This initial focus flowed into covering other emerging areas, like generative AI, cloud-native, low-code, SRE, observability, DevOps, open-source, and beyond. I strive to answer tough questions by interviewing experts, covering reports, and creating vendor-neutral thought leadership to advance the industry.

I am originally from Seattle and attended the University of Washington, where I majored in English and studied software entrepreneurship at the Foster School of Business. I now live and work with my family in Portland, Maine.

I love writing and especially enjoy connecting with smart minds to forecast the future of our digital world. If you have a PR or want to discuss how we can work together, feel free to reach out!
