Agents redefine the software delivery lifecycle
Agents are redefining the software development lifecycle. But what does that mean exactly?
I had the opportunity to write an in-depth feature on this topic for Arthur D. Little's PRISM publication. You can read it here.
It gathers a number of interesting expert opinions and differing perspectives that really paint a picture of the evolving practices in this new agentic software development era.
As the piece explains, now that you can validate proofs of concept almost instantly with agents, it's redefining where the focus lies in the SDLC and augmenting what it means to be a developer.
The focus shifts toward setting explicit upfront requirements and context, balancing human oversight with agentic autonomy, and avoiding intent errors and security risks.
I was really grateful to have the opportunity to dig into this topic and speak with experts working directly in this space.
Check it out. The PRISM site itself has a great design, too. Kudos to the ADL team.
