Thanks for having me, SecureMaine!
Was happy to participate as a speaker and moderator at SecureMaine on October 8th, 2026.
I was honored to be involved at SecureMaine this year! I moderated a session on AI, access, and the new security workforce with David Grundy, David Curtis, Rae Becerra, and Bridget Wilson. Thought we had a really solid conversation.
I also gave a talk on agentic AI security, teasing out some of the lessons I've gathered researching this topic lately, especially through interviews with executives for my recent CIO and CSO Online features.
One of my favorite sessions was given by Etay Maor from Cato Networks, who hacked his school as a kid and never stopped pen-testing. Now, the focus has turned to hacking AI agents. He shared some examples of how agents can chase rewards instead of pursuing valuable (and safe) outcomes, really exemplifying Goodhart's Law in action.
Finally, it was fantastic to see Dan Barahona in person and catch his session. Looking forward to doing more with him! Follow AI Security University for updates if you haven't, people!
This was my first time at SecureMaine, and I really enjoyed doing something local in (what still feels like my new) home state of Maine. Good, hearty folks out here who genuinely want to help protect people's digital lives.
I guess that's just part of "the way life should be" in the Pine Tree State.
