See you at Platform Summit 2025 in Stockholm

Bill Doerrfeld | September 17, 2025

I'm getting very excited for my yearly trip out to the beautiful city of Stockholm for Nordic APIs' flagship API conference, the Platform Summit!

I've been helping organize this event since 2015, and can honestly say it brings together some of the best, most diverse minds from the international API community.

The talks this year will be spanning a lot of pressing topics related to agentic AI, security risks, digital sovereignty, platform engineering, as well as the API design knowledge, developer experience insights, and case studies you'd expect of the Platform Summit. I've personally reviewed each talk, so I can vouch for the quality. 😉

I'll be leading the show on the main stage, helping to moderate and introduce speakers. I'll also kick things off with the day one morning keynote that will look into what API providers need to know about MCP.

In the AI age, I still find in-person events to be incredibly valuable. The hallway track, the human element, the unpolished details that don't surface online, and more.

This year, the main event will be held October 14–15, 2025, at the Clarion Hotel in Stockholm. The community will also be connecting for a special API Security UnConference the day before, on October 13.

You can bundle the two, or buy them separately. Group discounts are available too. When you register, definitely consider getting 15% off with the code ps25-bill at checkout.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to reconnecting with many colleagues and like minds in the community. Feel free to let me know you're coming, and say hi.

Hope to see you there!

How to fail at platfom engineering

How do you fail at platform engineering? Make it 100% UI-first. Don't market it. Survey no one. Measure success by who's onboarded. And just copy what others are doing.

MCP shines for indeterministic workflows, novel integrations, and giving AI coding agents context on the fly. But for more predictable automation it may be overengineeering.
