Emaww.ai API Finds Emotion From Touch

| May 10, 2020
Emaww.ai is perhaps one of the most exciting API related projects I have come across throughout my research into the field. The AI computes emotional intelligence from touch and swipes on devices.

In fact, the website you are viewing is using it! Emaww.a cleverly can detect 4 basic emotional states: Awe, Interest, Dislike, and Scurry. The project is headed by academic Alicia Heraz, who has been keeping me updated on their progress.

Back in late 2015, I researched and wrote a comprehensive list of Emotion Recognition APIs. It was so thorough that PepsiCo enlisted me to help inform their innovation division through a consulting sprint.

Since then, I have been keeping a careful eye on this field, as I find it fascinating. For years, emotion recognition software has relied on intrusive facial and voice recognition. I believe that touch is a better, less-intrusive alternative, with many potential marketing, medical, and financial use cases.
